Concept Description:

The Australian fashion brand Cue has been growing for over 50 years, since 1968. The brand sells high end clothing for the modern-day working woman. Cue cares a lot about sustainability and does so by investing in sustainable supply chains around the world.

I wanted to incorporate the brands ethos into the new store design and emphasise sustainability with the choice of materials and organic forms.

The new store design is fitted out with organic bamboo timber, polished concrete, and black steel. I wanted to stay away from the harshness of the original store and give the new store a more natural flow by adding curvilinear elements. This design choice creates a more modern and sleek feel.

The design has been inspired by Cue’s high street fast fashion and high end designer wear, and

their target market – the modern day working woman with a mid to upper class income.

The front of the store has floor to ceiling glass windows with a glass door, allowing for consumers to get a clear view of the store and merchandise whether they are walking past, window shopping or about to enter. Along the front of the store mannequins stand on a curved podium made from polished concrete. There are three main sections for store merchandise, both the left and right walls have sunken displays with LED lighting - enhancing the modern look of the store.

The centre of the store has a polished concrete podium showcasing clothing and accessories. The left wall also includes a smart shopping device - a large tablet embedded into the wall where consumers can shop online, in store and have their products delivered at home or to the store to try on.

The spacious fitting rooms are positioned towards the back of the store, where women can try on the Cue clothing.

The doors are made from bamboo, and each individual fitting room has a large mirror with LED lighting behind it to create a contemporary mood.

There is plenty of space within the store for advertising of the brand. On the back wall behind the POS counter, hangs four television screens that together make up one. These play Cue advertisements all day long. Both left and right walls have ample space for the latest Cue campaigns to be hung.

Overall, this new store truly encompasses the modern-day working woman; sleek, sophisticated and independent.

Lighting

It is important the store is well lit, so there is a variety of lighting features around the store. Above the mannequins in the front window there are black spotlights, the wall displays and mirrors in the fitting rooms feature LED strip lights to enhance the modern design of the new store.

Technology

The new store will feature a digital screen built into one of the wall displays that will allow for consumers to order products that the store may not have in stock, either to the store or to their home. This gives them the option to online shop whilst also in the store.
